The first workshop of the \u2018Rewomen \u2013 European Women’s Memory\u2019 project<\/strong>, approved within the \u2018Europe for Citizens \u2013 European Memory\u2019 programme of the European Union, was held in Berlin from 8 to 11 September.<\/p>\n

It is an international project involving representatives of organisations from ten European countries<\/strong>, which aims to mark the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union by creating an international exhibition dedicated to the history of the Women’s Liberation Movement in Europe – WLM.<\/p>\n

The opening of the exhibition, as well as the final international conference entitled \u2018Legacy of European Movements for the Liberation of Women\u2019, are planned for the beginning of June 2022 in Novi Sad<\/strong>, within the Heroines<\/a> programme arch, after which the exhibition will travel through partner cities.<\/p>\n

The focus of the first workshop held in Berlin, implemented at the Citadel in the Spandau district, was on the topics of SOS lines and women’s peace initiatives from the period from 1960 to 2000. The workshops, along with the visual moderator Katya Skladmann, taught how to translate research into audio-video installations and prepare for the final exhibition.<\/p>\n

Six international activities<\/strong> are planned within the project. In the following months, three more workshops are planned, in Athens (Greece), Warsaw (Poland) and Ptuj (Slovenia). <\/strong><\/p>\n

The project takes place in cooperation with the Archives of Vojvodina and \u2018Novi Sad \u2013 European Capital of Culture\u2019 Foundation with local partners including: IRIDA \u2013 Initiative for Equality, Innovation and Social Engagement, SOS Women’s Centre and the Association of Women’s Studies and Research, as well as with foreign institutions and organisations from Germany, Poland, Greece, Montenegro, Albania, Slovenia, Italy, France and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

About 100 women from partner countries will participate in creating the concept and materials for the final exhibition. The idea of the exhibition is to present facts, events, social turning points and changes, biographies of famous as well as completely unknown marginalised women. The exhibition will consist of documents, photographs, texts, artifacts, articles, videos and will be interactive with the audience. Conceptually, the exhibition will be presented through eight thematic units: War, Violence, Power, Labour, Freedom, Media, Education, and Culture.<\/strong><\/p>\n
