Improving the quality of youth culture by improving political awareness, critical thinking, and international solidarity among young people is the goal of the project \u2018European Youth Engagement Network 2.0 (EYE.net 2.0)\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, where the audience will have the chance to see eight interactive youth theatre performances from eight countries<\/strong> on theatre festival organised at several locations from 5 to 8 April<\/strong>. This project is an introduction to the \u2018Schools of the Future\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, a programme segment of the European Capital of Culture focused on children and young people.<\/p>\n

During April, the \u2018Schools of the Future\u2019 will review the importance of culture and art in the education of children. By turning schools into art scenes and cultural institutions into centres of education, the \u2018EYE.net\u2019 project engages young people who, through working with excellent artists as mentors, create their own content, i.e., theatre performances. Their topics are current and acceptable to a wider audience and some of the frameworks for young people to create in include Euroscepticism<\/strong>, solidarity<\/strong>, fake news<\/strong>, ecology<\/strong>, anti-fascism<\/strong>, economy<\/strong> and others.<\/p>\n

Participants from each country chose one topic to tackle, so next week, from 5 to 8 April, fans of the engaged theatre will have the pleasure to see the Czech play \u2018Marshal Konev\u2019s Last Battle\u2019<\/a>, the French play \u2018Turn Before the Ruins\u2019<\/a>, a play from Germany \u2018Why?\u2019<\/a>, a play by a group of young people from Greece \u2018Unwritten Land\u2019<\/a>, \u2018Do You Like Tomato Sauce?\u2019<\/a> from Italy, \u2018The Noise of the Silence\u2019<\/a> from Lithuania, \u2018Some Like it Fake\u2019<\/a> from Slovenia, as well as \u2018Testament\u2019<\/a> from Serbia. After or during each of the performances there will be an interactive debate with the young audience.<\/p>\n

All these plays will be performed at several locations in the city<\/strong>: Grammar School \u2018Laza Kosti\u0107\u2019 and \u2018Isidora Sekuli\u0107\u2019, Karlovac Grammar School, Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, Student Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, Youth Theatre, Elementary and High School \u2018Milan Petrovi\u0107\u2019, as well as School of Design \u2018Bogdan \u0160uput\u2019.<\/p>\n

Eight theatre festivals<\/strong> are planned as part of the project: in Novi Sad (Serbia), Prague (Czech Republic), Sansepolcro (Italy), Maribor and Ptuj (Slovenia), Athens (Greece), Toulouse and Clermont-Ferrand (France), Berlin (Germany) and Kaunas (Lithuania).<\/p>\n
