Public Call for Cooperation Projects with Japan in the Title Year Opened

In order to enrich the programme for 2022, the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation announced the Public call for co-financing cooperation programmes with Japan which will be implemented in the title year in Novi Sad and its surroundings.

In order to better connect with the Japanese cultural and artistic scene, the Foundation has established cooperation with the EU – Japan Fest, an organisation founded in 1992 with the aim of promoting Japanese culture and art in Europe. Through this competition, EU – Japan Fest will support cooperation projects with Japanese artists and organisations that fit into the concept of the programme for the title year.

Interested parties are invited to apply with projects that are in line with the programme concept and artistic vision ‘4 New Bridges’, developed by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation, and which promote traditional and/or contemporary art of Japan, with mandatory participation of at least one Japanese artist.

Priority in the selection will be given to programmes in unusual and public spaces, foreign guest appearances and presentations of authors, international festivals and events, thematic exhibitions, installations, thematic events, presentation of new stage works created through co-productions at the international or national level, and all forms of public events that represent in an innovative way the cultural heritage in contemporary artistic interpretation in various forms of creativity.

Expected types of expression are popular music, classical music, film, literary events, heritage in contemporary interpretation, photography, (new) media and technologies, design, street art, new circus and street theatre, stage performance of contemporary drama text, contemporary dance, visual arts and the like.
