One of the biggest and most important events this year in the world of classical music, ‘Beethoven Marathon’, which will take place on Sunday, 26 June, and which includes a very rare opportunity for all of his symphonies to be performed in one day, will culminate at Petrovaradin Fortress at 8.22 p.m., under the open sky, on the stage near the Novi Sad Academy of Arts.
The creator of this project and conductor Gabriel Feltz will conduct two philharmonic orchestras – Belgrade and Dortmund, which will alternate in performing eight symphonies in the City Concert Hall, while for the performance of the Symphony No. 9 and the famous ‘Ode to Joy’ at Petrovaradin Fortress, he will lead more than 200 musicians: the joint Belgrade and Dortmund Philharmonics, the Slovak Philharmonic Choir and four soloists – Anna Malesza-Kutny, Michaela Selinger, Young Woo Kim, and Robert Bork.
‘Symphony No. 9’ at the Fortress – Free Admission
Admission to the last concert at the Petrovaradin Fortress is free, and the entrance for the audience will be from Lovoturs.
The checkpoints will be on the left side past the big gate, towards the location of the stage.
Due to the great interest and the limited number of places, we advise visitors to come earlier to avoid crowds.
Refreshment bars will also be set up at the concert.
We recommend visitors use the existing parking spaces in the vicinity of Podgrađe and Lovoturs, considering the traffic in Preradovićeva Street (from Lovoturs) and on the way to the Petrovaradin Fortress will be temporarily rerouted.
The passage will be temporarily restricted by the existing one-way road from the upper plateau to Kamenički put, which will be turned into a two-way road controlled by the organisers.
First Eight Symphonies in the City Concert Hall
Before the free concert at the Fortress, the Belgrade and Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestras will alternately perform the first eight symphonies in the City Concert Hall in Novi Sad on 26 June, from morning to evening, with several breaks, as part of the Beethoven Marathon. All tickets for the concerts at the City Concert Hall are sold out.

‘Beethoven Marathon’ is one of the most significant projects of the European Capital of Culture ‘Fortress of Peace’ programme arch.
‘Fortress of Peace’ deals with the analysis and critical consideration of war conflicts and their consequences, searching for a culture of peace, and by 17 July, it will host more than 1,500 artists through almost 150 programmes.
