29/01/2024

The seventh Doček in Novi Sad met the expectations of more than 70 percent of the audience, who confirmed that they would visit it again, according to the latest survey data of independent researchers from the University of Novi Sad.

The results of research into the unique celebration in this part of Europe, which during the merging of the two New Years on 31 December and 13 January gathered about 40 thousand visitors, at almost 50 locations in the city and its surroundings, show that the different concept of Doček had positive cultural, social, touristic and economic impacts on the city, educational impact on young people, but very importantly on security.

That Doček proved to be a safer New Year’s celebration concept is confirmed by almost 100 percent of respondents, according to an independent survey, citing it as suitable for family visits with a well-designed programme for all generations. The relocation of the celebration to the Suburbium of the Petrovaradin Fortress on 31 December and the organization of the event at several indoor locations on 13 January are cited as one of the key criteria for increasing security, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior, which show that from 2019 until today there have been no security interesting events on New Year’s Eve.

The reasons why Doček, with around 200 artists and more than 60 hours of programme, stand out compared to celebrations in other cities, are the unique concept, the diversity of musical genres, multiple locations, with a special emphasis on the Suburbium of the Petrovaradin Fortress, the focus on culture and art and the quality of the organization of the event, as stated by the visitors themselves in the survey.

Doček has already been recognized at the European level as the Best European Trend Brand in the field of culture and as such contributes to the image of the city, according to as many as 94.25% of respondents, which indicates that it has a positive effect on the perception of the city and contributes to tourism development. The development of tourism in Novi Sad is also shown by the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, according to which, in the first six years of Doček’s implementation, the number of overnight stays by tourists increased by 90% in December and even 130% in January, and that Doček contributed to this to a large extent claims 75.26% of respondents.

With a significant increase in the number of tourists, the positive impact of Doček on the city’s income is recognized by almost 70 percent of respondents, while as many as 88.25% of them believe that the unique concept of the New Year’s celebration also affects the development of the local economy and production in Novi Sad, as it involves as many as 2,000 people in the implementation of the whole project.

As many as 89.69% of respondents believe that Doček, which in the previous seven editions had more than 400 programmes, combining two types of art, through the works and performances of the world’s most important artists, has a positive and educational impact on young people, while more than 90% of them point out that it contributes to the discovery of new city toponyms and spaces for culture.
