MOSAIC Project, which aims to promote cultural exchange and the promotion of cultural diversity and multilingualism in the Hungary-Serbia cross-border region, is based on engaging activities involving local communities, artists, and professionals from the creative sectors. Cooperation between partner institutions/organizations specializing in culture results in the development, promotion, and implementation of joint cultural events and festivals, as well as other activities.
The project will be implemented in Szeged and Novi Sad. The organizations implementing the project are local cultural institutions and non-profit organizations with experience in organizing artistic and cultural events and programs.
Hungarian partners and the City of Novi Sad Cultural Administration will, as part of the project activities, procure equipment for artistic work and creation. After that, several different activities will be carried out as part of the project, as outlined below.
Artist Exchange Program: The „Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture“ Foundation will host four two-week artist residencies, where eight artists from Hungary and Serbia will stay. The artists will have an impressive cultural experience in the host city, inspiring the creation of artistic content on new media equipment with the ultimate goal of sustainable promotion of contemporary art.
Introductory and Closing Conferences: The project will be presented at the introductory conference in Hungary and closed with a conference in Serbia, encouraging dialogue and reflection on the impacts and results of the project.
Professional Development Training for Artists will be organized by both the Hungarian and Serbian partners. The program will include professional workshops and training for artists to acquire skills and insights into new media. The training will coincide with the residencies, ensuring direct application of the learned skills.
Professional Development Training for Employees in Cultural Institutions: Similarly, employees from 14 cultural organizations in the city and local artists will undergo the same training, facilitating knowledge transfer and capacity building within our organizations.
Transnational Audiovisual Performance within the Doček and Kaleidoscope Events: The project will culminate in a major joint performance in both countries, using new media equipment. Artists will present their works in a hybrid format, resulting from cultural exchange, integrating different artistic forms.
Panel Discussions and Artistic Conversations will be organized by Hungarian partners. To facilitate broader discourse, Hungarian partners will host panel discussions focusing on contemporary art, new media, and cultural diversity. These discussions will be digitally recorded and made available to the public.
Symposium on Digital Art will be organized by the City of Novi Sad Cultural Administration. The symposium will discuss the role and impact of digital technologies on art and culture, motivating artists, scientists, and the public to exchange knowledge.
The lead partner of the project is the City of Novi Sad Cultural Administration, and the partners are the „Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture“ Foundation and the Béla Bartók University of Arts Support Foundation (Szeged), and it is being implemented within the Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary-Serbia program, financed under the European Union’s financial framework through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
