01/04/2026

The new international project FemminiCity – Network of Cities for Women: Participation in Policy Making, supported by the European Commission through the CERV Programme – Networks of Towns, officially began at the end of March with its first training session and meeting of partner organisations from Romania, Poland, Slovenia, France, and Serbia.

The Novi Sad-based organisation Trupa “Drž’ ne daj” is participating in the project as a partner, as well as Foundaiton Novi Sad – Evropean Capital of Culture, alongside participants from Timișoara, Novi Sad, Wrocław, Montpellier, and Maribor.

FemminiCity uses theatre as a tool for social engagement, with the aim of empowering women and encouraging their more active participation in society and decision-making processes. Through the format of community theatre, participants will address topics such as gender equality, women’s political representation, economic and reproductive rights, sexual freedoms, and domestic violence.

As part of the project, five theatre productions will be created in the partner countries through artistic residencies and collaboration between directors, playwrights, and artistic teams from different European cities. The performances will be presented in all partner cities within the framework of an international festival format.

The FemminiCity project is focused on connecting local communities, art, and public policy, with a particular emphasis on the visibility, participation, and empowerment of women in contemporary society.
