As part of the European project Age Against the Machine, led by the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture Foundation, the second international theatre festival was held in the Italian city of Cuneo, organized by the partner theatre Dispari Teatro (formerly Compagnia Il Melarancio).
The festival also marked the official opening of a new cultural chapter for the church Chiesa di Santa Chiara, which has been permanently granted to Dispari Teatro and transformed into a performance space, after it ceased to be used for religious purposes.
The city of Novi Sad was represented by the interactive, intergenerational play Waiting for the Rain, produced by the troupe Drž’ ne daj. The performance was attended by a large audience, members of the Age Against the Machine project council, and the mayor of Cuneo, who expressed great appreciation for the artistic work and the powerful message conveyed by the play.
During the post-show discussion with the audience, important topics were raised regarding discrimination against the elderly, especially through a comparison of different social contexts among the participating countries.
The Age Against the Machine project is supported by the European Union through the CERV – Network of Towns program, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, and the City of Novi Sad.
