The volunteers are supposed to support the school staff in several specialised units such as primary and secondary schools, day care and working centre, as well as in different activities such as administration and social interaction. They should also support them in educational, sport and fun activities.

People with intellectual and/or physical disabilities interact with limited number of people thus being deprived of numerous possibilities that social interaction with their peers or other people from their environment offers.

With the help of volunteers, they have an opportunity to participate in various activities in school and day care (go for a walk, go to the cinema, go on an excursion, etc.). In this manner, they are making friends, relationships and connections and are becoming active members of the community, not only passive beneficiaries of certain services. Social inclusion is in direct connection with the increase of self-confidence, curiosity and readiness for new challenges.

This year, volunteers of the Novi Sad Voluntary Service have shown solidarity, readiness to offer help and support to the citizens, and great responsibility, as was the practice so far. Therefore, if you would like to be part of such a team, you can find the detailed information on the website of the NVS.

The Novi Sad Voluntary Service was established as a joint project of the European Capital of Culture and European Youth Capital.
