The play “Broken Rib” was performed at Théâtre d’O as part of the Le Printemps des Comédiens festival in Montpellier, within the framework of the international project FEMMINICITY – A Network of Cities for Women’s Participation in Public Policy-Making, implemented with the support of the European Union’s CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) programme. The visit was marked by a valuable exchange of experiences with project partners, and following the successful performance, the next stop will be Wrocław, Poland.
The project is led by the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara, in partnership with the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture Foundation and the Drž ne daj theatre group from Novi Sad, as well as partner organisations from Montpellier, Wrocław and Maribor. The project is funded through the European Union’s CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) programme.
The performance explores the connection between misogynistic stereotypes and femicide, examining the mechanisms that enable and sustain violence against women. It was developed through a creative process that brought together an international artistic team and a local group of more than twenty women of different generations, educational backgrounds and professions, who also perform in the production.
