Open Call for Artists from Ukraine Closed

Open call for the selection of artists from Ukraine in the field of visual arts and literature, who will stay for two months in Novi Sad, has been closed. The results will be published on the website on 17 May, and the call was launched by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation within its programme ‘Artist in Residence’, which has existed since 2017.

Expressing sympathy for all victims of the war and promoting peace as the main message at the moment, the Foundation sent an invitation to artists to stay and continue to create their works in Novi Sad, this year’s European Capital of Culture. Residents will be provided with accommodation and all necessary materials for their work and the results of works by artists from Ukraine will be subsequently included in the official programme of the European Capital of Culture in June and July this year, within the ‘Fortress of Peace’ programme.

‘Fortress of Peace’ focuses on the consequences of the war and the importance of promoting the policy of peace and unity. An integral part of this programme arch are programmes that enable the discussion of conflicts and post-conflict societies through the prism of ordinary citizens, students and experts, programmes that thematize the experiences of European and non-European countries in resolving conflicts within their borders and/or conflicts with neighbouring countries are welcome.

The ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation team provided free public transport to refugees from Ukraine, who are accommodated in Novi Sad, in coordination with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the City Administration for Social and Child Protection City of Novi Sad, who provided information on the needs of refugees. Based on the cooperation and information from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the City Administration for Social and Child Protection of the City of Novi Sad, the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation will continue with the initiative to help and support refugees from Ukraine.
