The Premiere of the First Movie Saga About Novi Sad – Ticket Reservations Have Begun
12/07/2022

From the status of a free royal city, through Serbian Athens, to today’s European Capital of Culture, Novi Sad is one of the few cities in Europe to receive the first film saga about the birth of the city, called ‘Liberta’, which will premiere at the Petrovaradin Fortress on 17 July. The new accomplishment, signed by directors Gvozden Đurić and Žanko Tomić, will show not only the liberation of Novi Sad and obtaining the status of a free royal city but also the liberation of the whole of Vojvodina as a space where Serbian culture and tradition most intricately intertwine with European values and challenges of that time.

Admission to the movie screening is free, but due to the limited number of seats, the audience will only be able to attend with free tickets that can be picked up exclusively at the Gigs Tix ticket office in Pariski Magazin. Tickets can be picked up with a personal ID, and one person can take a maximum of three tickets. Online booking is not available.

The exciting and adventurous historical film will also be the highlight of the Fortress of Peace programme arch of the European Capital of Culture, while the audience will have the opportunity to watch it while enjoying the unique ambience of the Petrovaradin Fortress. Artists, who will turn the path into a passage through the Baroque, will lead the audience from the Monastery of St. George, the oldest church in Petrovaradin, to the place of the film screening – the street in front of the ‘Leopold’ hotel. The walk through 18th century starts at 9 p.m., and it will additionally contribute to the atmosphere preceding the film screening.

The parking lot in front of the Leopold Hotel at the Petrovaradin Fortress will be temporarily closed due to the premiere of the film – from 15 July at 9 a.m. until 18 July at 12:30 a.m.

It made Novi Sad emerge from peace into the city and today, it proudly celebrates every first day of February as a Day of Novi Sad, when the citizens of Novi Sad receive the traditional February Award for the most significant works and achievements.
