The First Age Against the Machine Festival Held in Denmark
13/11/2024

The international project Age Against The Machine, led by the ’Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation, which focuses on combating discrimination against older people, launched a theatre festival in early November in Holstebro, Denmark.

The project aims to create an international network of five cities—Évora, Cuneo, Holstebro, Goleniów, and Novi Sad—that will publicly advocate against age discrimination through innovative theatrical methodologies.

The festival featured performances such as Interwoven Rights (Compagnia Il Malarancio, Italy), Older Women? Who Said That? We Are Still Here! (University of Évora, Portugal), Loneliness Is a Monster and Oblivion (Nordisk Teatarlaboratorium, Denmark), Body (Brama Teatr, Poland), as well as the local production Waiting for the Rain by the ’Drž Ne Daj’ Troupe and the ’Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation.

The overall goal of the Age Against The Machine project is to raise awareness, knowledge, and interest among European citizens and policymakers regarding aging and the status of the elderly population.
