During 2022, Novi Sad will proudly take the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture, and since it is a project of national importance, the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation’ and the leading and oldest fair house in Serbia ‘Novi Sad Fair’ signed the agreement on business and technical cooperation in order to successfully implement the programme within the ‘Migrations’ programme arch.
It is an innovative book fair that will include numerous performances, theatre plays, concerts and other programmes that thematically fit into one of the eight programme arches of the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation.
‘Along with our slogan 4 New Bridges, on which the concept of the European Capital of Culture project rests, we have built with this agreement a new bridge with the oldest fair house in Serbia. Involving key stakeholders in the city, especially those with the history of many diverse events that the Novi Sad Fair records during its existence, is of great importance for raising the capacity of the city’s cultural scene and production capacities, and especially for the implementation of the 2022 programme. This is even more important because the European Capital of Culture project, which is of national importance, is not only about culture, but has been implemented and affects many other industries and spheres, which once again shows that culture is really a way of life in Novi Sad,’ Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation.
Slobodan Cvetković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad Fair’ pointed out that by signing the agreement with the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation and establishing cooperation in the preparation and implementation of the ‘Migrations’ programme arch, Novi Sad Fair contributed to the promotion of cultural wealth.
‘Thanks to the spatial capacities and possibilities of the Novi Sad Fair, in the first half of March next year, several different events will be implemented. Along with the ‘Migration of the Soul’ exhibition, which will be held in the Aula, we will organize numerous performances, theatre plays, concerts and other cultural contents in Hall 1,’ said Slobodan Cvetković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad Fair’.
In the title year, the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation will transform numerous organisations, institutions and well-known places, including the oldest fair house in Serbia, the Novi Sad Fair, where fellow citizens will be able to enjoy numerous programmes and cultural events.
The gala opening of the title year in Novi Sad is planned for 13 January 2022, within Doček 7530, while the closing ceremony will be on 31 December 2022 within the same programme arch.
