The Independent, one of the most prominent British newspapers, included Novi Sad as the European Capital of Culture among the ten destinations that should be visited in 2022. Thus, Novi Sad found itself in the company of various parts of the world such as the Maldives, the Austrian mountains, Canada, India, and others.
The Independent states that the city of Novi Sad will host 4,000 local and international artists who will participate in 1,500 cultural events during the year. The authors of the text emphasize that most of the programmes will be held in various cultural centres throughout Novi Sad, such as the former industrial zone and the 19th-century castle, i.e. Svilara, Mlin, and Egység cultural stations, and the Creative District.
Ten destinations have been singled out on this list, as well as ideas for various trips in 2022, such as cottages in the UK, and luxury hotels in the Maldives. Among other things, the list also includes Novi Sad, which bears the title of European Capital of Culture for 2022.
