Three cultural workers Milica Vukadin, Vesna Pašćanović and Anja Stefanović were selected within the last public call for financial support for local artists and cultural workers for implementation of a study and a research trip to Japan within the ‘Kizuna’ exchange programme.
The aim of the call is to encourage internationalisation of the cultural scene of Novi Sad, to connect local cultural workers and artists with partners from Japan.
Milica Vukadin, being an English language teacher, applied with her project ‘Putešestvije do Niporuvije’ with a wish to learn about the school system in Japan, to closely study extracurricular workshops and how the workshops would fit into a context thus making it relevant both for Serbian and Japanese pupils. Moreover, in order to find out more about the country, traditional and modern culture of Japan, gaining the knowledge that she could transfer to pupils in Serbia. She will share experience and knowledge acquired in Japan with their pupils within the workshops in the Barka Cultural Station.
Vesna Pašćanović and Anja Stefanović, being the representatives of the local art scene and choreographers, go on a trip to Japan with the wish to improve their dance skills, connect with the Japanese artists that should participate in the ‘Groovin’ festival in Novi Sad, present Serbia to Japanese artists and organisations, as well as to talk to the artists about the needs of young people.
These three cultural workers will stay in Japan, in accordance with the easing of pandemic measures.
The research trip to Japan brings the development of cooperation projects that will be implemented within the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project in 2022. Therefore, proposals of project ideas have had to be in accordance with the programme arches and topics of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project.
‘Kizuna’ is the longest open call of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation. It was launched in May 2017 and ended on 31 August 2021. There were 15 overviews during this period, while 31 cultural workers received grants.

The project is implemented by the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ in cooperation with the ‘EU – Japan Fest’ from Tokyo.
