„Support from Ulm and Pecs – alongside Novi Sad to European capital of culture“

On the occasion of Novi Sad City Day, a Member of City Council for Culture, Vanja Vučenović, Organizing Committee President of Novi Sad 2021, Nemanja Milenković, and Program Director of the project, Momčilo Bajac, held a meeting with the Mayor of Pecs, Žolt Pavo and his associates. The conversation was focused on possibilities of cultural cooperation and exchange, and expert support from Pécs to the project team Novi Sad 2021.

To remind, Pécs was the European Capital of Culture in 2010, and the Mayor of Pecs offered all the help and support last year. This was an opportunity to define proposals for cooperation and exchange experiences in the candidacy process for one of the most important cultural projects in Europe and around the world.

 

Also, today, City Council Member for culture, Vanja Vučenović, and the European Capital of Culture team held another important meeting with Peter Langer, coordinator of the Danube Strategy. The subject of the discussion was presentation of Novi Sad in the candidacy for European Capital of Culture, within the possibilities offered by the Danube Strategy and the entire Danube region. Mr. Langer has once again confirmed that he was and remained a true friend of our city and confirmed he will continue to provide very concrete support for Novi Sad for the European Capital of Culture. Mr. Vanja Vučenović thanked Peter Langer for his support during application, thanks to which, among other things, Novi Sad has entered the final phase of the competition to win this prestigious title.

The members of the project team, Nemanja Milenković and Momčilo Bajac, have discussed concrete possibilities for cooperation and joint projects with the cities of the Danube region, which are very important for the European dimension of the project Novi Sad 2021. Further dynamics of joint actions was agreed in order for the final application to be completed by the deadline set by the European Commission, and it is September 2016.
