The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation and the city of Pécs, which was European Capital of Culture in 2010, organise ‘Days of Pécs in Novi Sad’ at multiple locations in the city from Friday 26 May until Sunday 28 May.
Twin cities Pécs and Novi Sad cooperated in the candidacy process of both cities for the European Capital of Culture title, and they organise ‘Days of Pécs in Novi Sad’ manifestation in order to inform citizens of Novi Sad about benefits and progress the city of Pécs achieved owing to this prestigious title that our city will hold in 2021.
The ‘Days of Pécs in Novi Sad’ will be an excellent opportunity for the city of Pécs to demonstrate how it gain recognition, partly due to its geographical position, partly due to the series of programmes related to the European Capital of Culture 2010 and infrastructure development in the region of Middle Europe. Furthermore, the idea is to present, in cooperation with the Balassi institute, the colourful culture of Pécs, which is based on a thousand-year-old tradition.
Apart from the Collegium Hungaricum – Hungarian cultural institute from Belgrade, partner of this presentation of Pécs, which is the second one in Novi Sad, is also the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.
The ‘Days of Pécs in Novi Sad’ manifestation will be held at multiple locations in the city, from 26 until 28 May. Admission to all events is free.
Among other things, citizens of Novi Sad will have a chance to see the ‘Life of Pécs’ exhibition, attend ‘The World of Pécs-Villány Wines’ wine tasting , street concert of the Daniel Speer Brasdance band, concert of the Béla Bartók women choir, and there will be a surprise for all citizens of Novi Sad on Sunday 28 May in the city centre, around noon…

18h, Novi Sad Theatre – Újvidéki Szinház:
Opening of the ‘Life of Pécs’ exhibition. The exhibition consists of 30 photographs taken by the members of the ‘Mecsek’ photo club and other Pécs photographers. The exhibition shows how the city of Pécs enriched its cultural and everyday life by becoming a European Capital of Culture in 2010.
Performance of the guest duo from Hungary and quartet made of members of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ symphony orchestra.
19h, ‘Piknik’ restaurant at Ribarac:
The World of Pécs-Villány Wines
Wine tasting at the Danube bank. Selection of white, rosé and red wines with advice by expert sommelier and information about origin and characteristics of the Pécs wine region, as well as its surroundings.
