Culttour: Reveals the New and Reassesses the Familiar

The first issue of the Culttour: monthly, which is part of the multimedia platform of the same name, is available for free to all citizens of Novi Sad from today. The publication was presented in the Gallery of Matica Srpska.

Nataša Gvozdenović, chief editor of the Culttour:, said that the magazine was envisaged as an open, flexible platform that will strive to reveal the new and reassess the familiar by working with different associates and interviewees, and using different approaches.

– The first issue of the Culttour: focuses on young visual artists Petar Mirković and Tadija Jančić, who are well-known on European, i.e. global scene of contemporary visual art. They have their ateliers in the so-called Chinese Quarter that is, as the future Youth Creative Polis, one of the backbones of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ project – said Nataša Gvozdenović, chief editor.

The Cultture: magazine is a personification of the project, and it completely fits the concept of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’. Namely, as stated by Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, the Culttour: embodies the values of participation, because the preparation included large number of different journalists and other professionals; democracy, because the first issue features some of the artists that are almost completely unknown to a wider public, but are successful on the global cultural and art scenes; and transparency, because the project is completely open.

– What is also important is that the Culltour: platform is informative because it informs about the events in Novi Sad in the field of culture and art, and it is educational since citizens have a chance to find out something new, as is the case in this first issue. I believe that a completely new art concept will begin to thrive, and that it will, together with the European Capital of Culture project, become ripe by 2021 – said Mr Milenković.

The Culltour: magazine is a monthly with circulation of 10,000 copies, and it will be distributed to citizens of Novi Sad without charge in all institutions of culture in the city. There is a plan to distribute the magazine in Belgrade, too. The production and distribution of the Culttour: magazine is realised by the Kuća ČuvarKuća agency, Cultural Centre of Novi Sad is an institutional partner, and IDEA supermarket supported the project.
