Based on the open call of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ for the position of a PR Manager launched in June this year, the Panel for implementation of the call selected Mirjana Kovačević, PhD.
Among the potential candidates, Ms Kovačević had the best references, and showed the most experience and skills in the interview with the Panel regarding the understanding of the concept ‘For New Bridges’ and ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project, including its main projects and goals, as well as understanding the values on which the EU is based.
Mirjana Kovačević has presented her PhD thesis at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad in the field of industrial engineering and engineering management – marketing and media systems. She has experience in academic work, dozens of published scientific papers and she is a docent at the College for Communications in Belgrade. At the University in Novi Sad she specialized in Management of Regional Development through the EU Funds. On several occasions she attended trainings in Serbia and abroad on the following topics: Management, PR, Private-Public Partnerships, Public Administration and Structural Reforms, and she also attended the BBC’s intensive course of commercial management in the organisation of the British Council.
Ms Kovačević has acquired her competences through work in media, among which the most important one is Radio 021, which proves its sustainability and specificity every day. Through her work in production houses and in consulting activities for cultural and creative organisations, she participated in planning and implementation of large number of campaigns and manifestations of national and regional importance; she is familiar with current global trends in the field of PR and the use of digital communication tools and social networks; she has an exceptionally developed analytical and crisis management skills, and proven communication, presentation and creative team work skills.
Mirjana Kovačević with 20 years of experience in strategic communication, becomes a member of the Foundation team, with the task to design and implement strategy of external communication of the Foundation at local, national, regional and international levels.
