Dr Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, Manager of the Matica Srpska Gallery and Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, was awarded the French Order of Arts and Literature, Grade of Knight, at the gala ceremony on 12 February 2019. His Excellency Frédéric Mondolini, Ambassador of the French Republic in Serbia, awarded Ms Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski the Order in the Embassy of France in Belgrade.
Ms Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski successfully manages the Gallery of Matica Srpska for almost a decade, which she thoroughly transformed into museum of contemporary design in accordance with European standards, including the reconstruction of building, modernisation of programme activities and numerous strategic partnerships, as she stated in the explanation.
She is devoted to developing versatile cooperation in culture, both in the cooperation of national museums, and in maintaining the international cooperation. Numerous exhibitions, educational programmes for children and young people, exchange of exhibitions and multidisciplinary cooperation are the result of her work.
This significant acknowledgement receive the ones who are prominent in the field of art or literature and in that manner have contributed to the French and world artistic and cultural heritage. The Order was founded in 1957 and it has three grades – Knight, Officer and Commander.
Mr Miloš Konstantinović, literary interpreter, was also awarded the significant Order.
