22/02/2019

Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, presented our project, as well as rich cultural scene of the city of Novi Sad, at the annual conference of the EU – Japan Fest Foundation in Tokyo. This Foundation encourages cultural cooperation between Japanese artists and cultural workers with European Capitals of Culture for more than 3 decades. Several hundred of cultural workers and artists from the entire Japan, who are interested in cultural cooperation with artists from our city attended the presentation.

European Capital of Culture (ECoC) is one of the most complex cultural projects that involves artists and cultural workers from more than 60 cities who have already held this prestigious title. Officials of the ECoC cities visited Tokyo in order to meet representatives of the cultural scene of Japan and present their cultural projects, with the aim to work together on development of cultural exchange.

The annual conference of the EU – Japan Fest is being organised in Tokyo every year and gathers numerous European Capitals of Culture and artists, cultural managers and other representatives of cultural organisations from Japan. The idea is to develop new partnerships and cultural initiatives and enable quality and long-term cultural cooperation between Europe and Japan. At the same time, we are working on development of projects that will promote the local scene in the European Capitals of Culture during the year of the title.
