American Choir Enchanted the Audience by Performing Serbian Traditional Songs

Citizens of Novi Sad greeted with a thrilling applause the wonderful ‘Schola Cantorum’ choir of the Arkansas University, USA, which arrived in our city within the ‘Future of Europe’ platform of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ project. The most talented 36 students of the University sang American songs, as well as traditional Serbian music in the Svilara Cultural Station. 
Niška Banja, Kozar, Heruvimska Pesma, Slavite Gospoda are the songs that aroused strong emotions and caused enthusiasm.

As a gift to the audience, the choir sang the Serbian anthem ‘God of Justice’ after the concert.
The choir performs about 20 concerts every academic year, and Novi Sad is on their list this year.

They have proved to be among the best by their glorious 50-year history, which included numerous national and international performances, national television, concerts on numerous ceremonies, and their vocals enchanted the audience in world famous concert halls. The ‘Schola Cantorum’ choir of the University of Arkansas was the first American choir that won the ‘Guido d’Arezzo’ prize at the international polyphony choir competition in Europe in 1962.

The ‘Future of Europe’ platform, which entered the third week of implementation, will include exhibitions, lectures, workshops, theatre performances and many other activities until 7 June. The focus is on children and young fellow citizens, who will have the opportunity to find cultural content according to their interests, but also to engage in creating new, different cultural contents, to learn about European values ​​and to show how they can contribute to cultural image of the city.
