Baroque Night in the Egység Cultural Station
04/06/2019

Andre Laurent O‘Neil, an American baroque cellist, will hold a concert in the Egység Cultural Station on 4 June at 8 p.m. Entrance is free.

Andre, who has thrilled the citizens of Novi Sad with his talent and wide musical opus many times before, will perform works of Gabrielli and Bach tomorrow.

Andre regularly performs with world renowned ensembles. He is a permanent member of the ‘New Trinity Baroque’ ensemble in Atlanta. He is actively engaged in composing, and critics have characterised him as ‘strong and convincing understanding of the Baroque style, whose techniques are light, while his performances have a great tone’.

O’Neil performs on the original cello of the English cello builder John Morrison from 1800, and uses the copy of a baroque fiddler made according to the 1700 English fiddler model.

He also tirelessly works on education of young generations. He held master classes and baroque interpretations at the Universities of Colombia and Alabama, as well as at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music in New York.

The concert is organised by the Vojvodina Early Music Association and Days of Baroque Music in Novi Sad, in cooperation with the Belgrade Early Music Festival.
