Heritage Walks: Novi Sad from the Film Archive
14/08/2019

New ‘Heritage Walks’, project of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’, brings story about Novi Sad from the seventh art perspective. In addition to the ‘Kinoplov’ project, Walks will revive Novi Sad from the mid-20th century, thanks to the film and documentary material of the Kino Club Novi Sad.

The first meeting with Novi Sad from the film archive will be held at the Ship Theatre on 11 August, when the film entitled ‘The Last Days of Šangaj’ by Borivoje Mirosavljević will be presented, as well as numerous short films and fragments from films that present Šangaj, Kej and Oficirac recorded almost 70 years ago.

The ‘Kinoplov’ revives scenes of Novi Sad from the mid-20th century and brings a trip during time when trolleys were used as a mean of transport. Films recorded with the camera of the members of the Kino Club Novi Sad are the proof how the city has changed through time and a priceless document of a turning point of their development.

During the three Walks planned to be implemented within the ‘Kinoplov’ project, citizens of Novi Sad will hear the stories about the city that rapidly changed, people who produced films about the development of the city, as well as the reason why amateurism in film making is the important segment of cultural heritage.
