The second week of the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ brings new cultural content – exhibitions, festivals, plays, concerts at unexpected locations, movie projections in the open, birthday of the cultural station, as well as the jubilee of the cult theatre – Bitef.

The international festival of contemporary dance Tanz Platz and 30 years of Bitef

‘The elusive theatre, which has been nurturing a different type of stage performance since the founding, while remaining oriented towards the world’s most up-to-date theatre trends’- this is how the Bitef Theatre, which celebrates 30 years of existence, is described. Its jubilee will be marked in Novi Sas by the ‘I dalje u zaveri sa pozorišnim duhom’ exhibition that will be opened in the Svilara Cultural Station (Đorđa Rajkovića Street no. 6b) from 5 September at 7 p.m. until 9 September. The exhibition is part of the third edition of the international festival of contemporary dance Tanz Platz that will be opened until 7 September and implemented by the SCCNS.  The Tanz Platz will present four co-productions and successful choreographers and dancers from Italy, Spain, Germany, Colombia, New Zealand and Serbia in the ‘Laza Kostić’ Grammar School on 6 and 7 September.

Three days of Charlie Chaplin and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra in the Unification Park

On the occasion of 130 years of birth of one of the first stars of the seventh art, Charlie Chaplin, the ‘Filmharmony’ project moves the classical music from the indoors to the green oasis of the Unification Park (Dunavska Street no. 35) on 3, 4 and 5 September at 8 p.m. when the citizens of Novi Sad will have a chance to see two legendary movies – ‘A Dog’s Life’ and ‘The Kid’ accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. In the case of bad weather the ‘Filmharmony’ will be held in the Synagogue (Jevrejska Street no. 9). The ‘Filmharmony’ project is co-financed from the INTEREG IPA cross-border cooperation between Serbia and Croatia 2014 – 2020, with the Music Youth of Novi Sad as the Serbian partner and with the support of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’.

Exhibition that connects painting and design

What does a combination of classical painting and graphic design look like?  The development of design in our country is shown through useful objects in the field of graphic and industrial design from the mid-century, which are owned by citizens. The exhibition is implemented in cooperation with the Rajko Mamuzić Gift Collection, Association of Artists of Applied Arts and Designers of Vojvodina and the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’.

Youth Songwriters Festival

An interesting and unusual combination of location and content is also brought by the first Youth Songwriters Festival whose closing night will be on the roof of the ‘Promenada Novi Sad’ shopping centre (level 2b of the parking) on 4 September at 8 p.m. The entrance is free. Nine finalists of the festival will perform in the competition part of the evening, and then the audience will listen to Olivera Popović, Vedran Ferizović, a guitar teacher and the leader of the ‘Josip A Lisac’ band and Tamara Ristić, better known as Kezz. The project is implemented in cooperation with the City Administration for Culture of the City of Novi Sad, Guitarists Association of Vojvodina and the LAB Cultural Centre, with the support of ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’.
