SPENS, Studio M, Faculty of Philosophy and Gymnastics Centre are some of the locations that we have a chance to visit during ‘Walks through Modernist Novi Sad’, which is part of the ‘Heritage Walks’ project within the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’.
Four Walks will be implemented, and curators will be the students of architecture, the same as during the first cycle of walks in May and June.
The first walk will take place on 21 September, at 5 p.m. and starting point will be the Museum of Contemporary Art. Afterwards, the interested will have a chance to visit Labour Union, at 6 p.m.

The second walk that will be held on 22 September, at 5 p.m., and visitors will have a chance to see SPENS and Faculty of Philosophy.
The third and fourth walks will be held the last weekend of September. We will have a chance to visit Studio M and Gymnastics Centre on 28 September, while Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski and Start IT Centre visitors will have a chance to see on 29 September.
First Walk in Irig
Irig, where ‘Back to the Future’ walks will be organised, will reveal local stories, legends and historical events within the ‘Heritage Walks’ project. The first of three walks will be held on 21 September at 11 a.m. The starting point will be the First Serbian Reading Room in Irig. The final point of the walk is the home of Borislav Mihajlović Mihiz, literary critic and screenwriter, which the visitors will have the opportunity to visit and hear stories about his life. On the way to the house, walking along the streets of Irig, the visitors will learn about local stories and legends, as well as the most interesting events in the history of the place on the way to the house, walking along the streets of Irig. The ‘Back to the Future’ walks are being implemented by the ‘Eustahija’ Association and the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’. The second and third walk will be held in October.
The second walk of ‘Kinoplov’ reveals new stories about Novi Sad from the cinema perspective
How did Novi Sad look like through the camera of the members of the Kino Club in the middle of the last century? What can we learn about Novi Sad from the film heritage? The second walk, which will be implemented on 26 September at 7:30 p.m., will offer the answers within the ‘Kinoplov’ project. The starting point is the Small Art Gallery of the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad (Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard no. 9), and the final point is the ‘Bulevar Books’ bookstore where the film projection will be held. As in the previous walk implemented by the Kino Club, the focus is on amateur filmmaking and film heritage, which also records the history of the city. We will see how the centre of Novi Sad and the streets around the Fish Market in the late ’50s looked like and how the university centre and Limani looked like during the ’60s and ’70s in the second edition of the ‘Kinoplov’. We will take a walk along the Quay to Oficirac and the Petrovaradin Fortress. The event is implemented by the Kino Club Novi Sad and ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’.
New walks by ‘Novi Sad 2021’ and Dom B-612
How was Novi Sad built, what are the stories behind the modern architecture, who were the architects in charge of buildings Novi Sad is known for? Some buildings in Novi Sad were being repurposed several times, thus numerous stories about people and events that took place in those buildings are hidden behind, keeping the history of the city.
The cycle of walks ‘Arhitura’, which is implemented by ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ and Dom B-612, reveals these stories. The first walk, visit of the Railway Station, is scheduled for 28 September at 11 a.m., and in this manner the ‘Oktobarh’ Festival of architecture, design and art will be announced.
Next two ‘Arhitura’ walks will be organised on 5 and 6 October.
The Kaleidoscope of Culture is the programme arch by the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’, which turns Novi Sad into the ‘city of scene’ through the culture of communion for the second time, at more than 80 locations, from 24 August until 30 September. Part of the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ are Street Musicians Festival, Piano City, Festival of Chamber Music, etc.
It connects spaces and programmes, as well as the actors themselves: the ‘Kaleidoscope’ presents a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad through multiple arts, with its cultural institutions, non-institutional scene, artists and citizens themselves. With more than 400 programmes, everyone will have a chance to design their own kaleidoscope of culture.
