Music Journey around the World in Egység
18/02/2020

The Egység Cultural Station continues with its first production project – the Pocket Globe Cycles. The fifth edition of the so-called music excursions will also include a workshop called ‘Just Listen’, in addition to introducing the musicians, who bring a fusion of different sounds this time.

The workshop on music, improvisation and meditation that will take place in Egység (Antona Čehova Street no. 4) on 21 February from 6 p.m. will be led by Daniel More, a talented musician, double bass player and improviser who sails the waters of classical and jazz music as a freelancer, ready to share his knowledge about new music trends. The aim of the workshop is to create a space where participants (both beginners and professional musicians) will be able to enjoy and explore music as a form of communication and self-expression, improving their listening, improvising and concentration skills. The workshop is open for everyone and the entrance is free.

Daniel More will show us how to create and enjoy music as a member of the Lavlji Dani Dimathe young impro/ jazz trio from Novi Sad, during their concert the very next day, on 22 February, starting at 8:21 p.m. (20:21). This trio sticks to the unwritten rule that everything is subject to improvisation. The music they create in this specific way helps them get to know each other and more easily understand each other’s intentions, emotions and desires. In addition to Daniel playing double bass, the trio consists of Dimitrije Jakovljević playing electric guitar and Lav Kovač playing drums. You can buy tickets in the Gigstix ticket offices at the price of RSD 300 or via internet page.

On Sunday, the band that studies and then interprets the Sephardic music with almost scientific dedication, successfully combining Balkan, Jewish-Spanish, Ottoman-Turkish and Arabic traditional music compositions, rejuvenating them with improvisations, arrives at Egység. It is the gorup of musicians called Shira U’tfila that will perform in Egység on 23 February at 8:21 p.m. (20:21) within the Pocket Globe. You can buy tickets in the Gigstix ticket offices at the price of RSD 300 or via internet page.
