17/04/2019

Next week, the Egység Cultural Station is going to be the place where citizens of Novi Sad will have the chance to enjoy the impressive performance of Aleksandar Saša Petrović, the first tenor of the Opera of the Serbian National Theatre.

The famous opera singer will perform with the great national orchestra of the ’Sonja Marinković’ Academic Cultural Artistic Association in the Egység Cultural Station on Tuesday, 23 April at 8 p.m. The repertoire will be an extraordinary mix of ethno and classical music, and the acoustics of the large hall will certainly contribute to the performance.

In the search for artistic identity, Aleksandar Saša Petrović acquired musical knowledge on several fronts. After he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, his singing career took a favourable course. His debut in the Serbian National Theatre was the role of Alfred in ‘The Bat’ operetta by Johann Strauss. Furthermore, his very beginnings were participation in several international singing competitions when he entered the finals, such as ‘Traian Grozăvescu’ in Romania, ‘Belkanto’ in Rijeka, and ‘Francisco Vignas’ in Spain.
He has performed with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Radio Television of Serbia, the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian National Theater from Split, the Opera Orchestra of the Sarajevo Opera, the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radio-Television, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ljubljana Opera Festival.

The concert will be enhanced by one of the most famous and most acknowledged orchestras in Novi Sad, the orchestra of the ‘Sonja Marinković’ Academic Cultural Artistic Association, which was founded in 1962. Numerous and very rich student activities in1954 preceded its foundation. Great number of names of importance for the Yugoslav cultural creativity emerged from that period. From its very beginnings the Association has hired the most distinguished experts from the field of creativity in Novi Sad, and later formed its own personnel, from which the majority of today’s artistic programme managers come from.

Tickets available at Gigs Tix ticket offices.
