14/08/2019

The ‘Young People Museum’ project, co-financed within the open call of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’, brings an extraordinary exhibition to the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski. The exhibition by students of ‘Bogdan Šuput’ Secondary School for Design entitled ‘Cultural Treasure: the World in a Museum Case’ will be opened from 8 August at 8 p.m. and it will last until 31 August. The authors of the exhibition are Milica Orlović Čobanov, Marta Đarmati (Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski) and Aleksandra Rešnjak Pešić, who is in charge of exhibition design.

The exhibition includes around thirty works by students inspired by the story about artists from the collection of Memorial Collection and their works. It is envisaged as the concept of a ‘museum case’, on which curators from the Memorial Collection, students and exhibition designer worked on, with the idea to actively include young people in designing, implementation and promotion of cultural offer of their city.

More than 100 high school students from Novi Sad and Zone 021 (municipality of Irig) worked on the ‘Young People Museum’ project supported by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, within the programme of the Novi Sad European Youth Capital, in cooperation with partners of ‘Mišolovka’ Youth Theatre, ‘Umivanje’ Association of Citizens and ‘Bogdan Šuput’ Secondary School for Design. The students were introduced to rich history of the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski and culture of Novi Sad.

The project proved that the young audience is ‘in focus’ through participation of young people in different programmes such as meetings with Milan Isaković, successor of Pavle Beljanski, and still-life painting based on the works by great artist Ljubica Cuca Sokić. They were given a chance to find out about donor Pavle Beljanski from a different perspective, his collection and time in which it was presented to public back in 1961.
