Audience in Focus: Democratisation of Digitalisation in Libraries

‘Democratisation of Digitalisation in Libraries’ is one of the projects supported through the ‘Audience in Focus’ open call of the Foundation with the funds allocated from the budget of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina for 2017. The project is organised by the City Library of Novi Sad in cooperation with the ‘Svetozar Marković’ University Library from Belgrade, with the aim to train librarians, as well as to involve as many users as possible in the process of digitalisation of library resources in order to make library and archive resources more available.

4 workshops were held within the project on 29 and 31 October. New technological possibilities based on digitalisation were presented during workshops in order to change the work of libraries. Technologies developed within the H2020 READ programme of the European Commission, which are free for users and available for institutions through new European Collaborative were presented to the audience.

The project lasts until the end of 2019 and ten workshops are planned with the aim to train librarians and project the system of introducing the training for users, as well as new library services based on new skills and knowledge of employers.

Workshops present introduction programme for two national central workshops that will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia in Novi Sad and Belgrade in December. Workshops will be led by Dr Ginter Milberger, who is the leader of the pan-European team for development of new technologies in digitalisation.

The process of democratisation of digitalisation is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and Cabinet of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as the part of more comprehensive context of digitalisation of national cultural heritage, aimed at its preservation and accessibility.
