Consultations with representatives of the European Commission

On April 5th, the first round of conference consultations was held between representatives of the European Commission, Panel of independent experts responsible for evaluation projects of the European Capital of Culture, and the candidate cities for 2021. The Project Novi Sad 2021 was represented by Mr.Vuk Radulović, Manager of International Relations, while Herceg Novi was represented by Mrs. Nataša Martić, Adviser to the Mayor for Culture and Tourism. The meeting was held with the aim of clarifying the guidelines and comments of the evaluation panel of independent experts, as well as technical details, in order for candidates to more efficiently and better prepare for the final application form.

Representatives of the project were also, in direct communication with the Chairman of the Panel, Mr. Steve Green, given the opportunity to obtain the information necessary for a detailed analysis of the recommendations of the Panel, and more importantly to better prepare cities for candidacy for the European Capital of Culture. As announced by the European Commission, it was the first round of consultations, several similar are to be organized in the following weeks, which should greatly help candidates prepare successful and quality applications. To remind that in 2021, for the first time, the Commission’s decision established the ability to choose the European Capital of Culture from non-EU countries, candidates or potential candidates.
