14/06/2018

Ester Tajrychová is a children’s illustrator from the Czech Republic who stays in Novi Sad within the ‘Plants AiR’ residential programme from 3 June until 13 July. The result of this visit will be an illustrated book of selected poems for children written by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj.

During the residence in our city, this Czech artist will hold a couple of creative workshops with children within the ‘Illustrating Zmaj’ project. The first workshop by Ester Tajrychová will be held during 61st Zmaj’s Children Games within Artistic Atelier in Zmaj Jovina Street on Saturday, 9 June at 6 p.m. After this workshop, there will be workshops implemented in cooperation with ‘Mala Srećna Kolonija’ Association and ‘Jovan Jovanović Zmaj’ Primary School from Sremska Kamenica.

After these creative meetings with children, the artist will create an illustrated booklet of 15-20 poems by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj.

Here are Ester’s expectations from this residence: ‘I was always fascinated by children’s imagination and I am glad because I will be able to talk with children through their drawings. Besides this experience, I am really happy because illustrating the book of poems will be a great pleasure for me. I cannot wait to visit museums and galleries of Novi Sad and I will let Novi Sad to surprise me with its contents, to inspire me. Every new experience meets my curiosity and opens the door to different types of creativity.’

‘Plants AiR’ residential programme of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation support increasing mobility of artists and cultural workers in cultural and creative industries: both local ones who travel to other European Capitals of Culture, and foreign artists and cultural workers who present their creative work in Novi Sad.
