The Closing of ‘The Young Choose’ exhibition of the Gallery of Matica Srpska will take place on Saturday, 23 March. The exhibition was implemented within the ‘Little School of Museology’ project, which received funds within the ‘Audience in Focus’ public call of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation.
The exhibition was the idea of 11 high school students, and in that manner, they presented Serbian art from their perspective. During the closing ceremony, the audience will have a chance to hear the the story from young curators through the interpretation of the exhibition and Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation will address the audience.
This different and unique idea of the Gallery of Matica Srpska is aimed at encouraging young people to express their ideas and attitudes and take fresh look at Serbian art. They presented artistic works that are kept in the Gallery and reviewed the cultural heritage of Serbia from their perspective in a different manner within three topics: ‘Society Time Machine’, ‘The Beginning of the End’ and ‘And Who Am I’.
The young curators were students from ‘Isidora Sekulić’ and ‘Jovan Jovanović Zmaj’ Grammar Schools, ‘Bogdan Šuput’ Secondary School for Design and ‘Svetozar Miletić’ Secondary School of Economics – Miloš Broćeta, Maksim Vojvodić, Arijana Davidović, Lola Kostić, Marija Murgaški, Teodora Nikodijević, Ivana Nikolić, Sofija Petrović, Andrea Poljak, Milica Stevanović and Anica Čerevicki.
The gala opening of the exhibition was held on 1 February, and more than 600 high school students visited the exhibition.
