Cultural Corner: Work with Children in Focus

Cultural Corner – the space in Klisa that was opened in October last year, has been operating for three months and trying to connect with the local population, educate children, organise various cultural content, all by meeting the community needs.
In addition to regular programme planned for February and April, the Corner highlights: study aids, Russian lessons for the young and adults,  ‘Wonderland with Alice’ school of English, creative writing workshop, cartoon screenings, DJ workshops and also presentation of the book about Džoni Štulić, documentary movie and plays for children.

Master of Solitude in the Time of one Country

The book dedicated to the Yugoslav band ‘Azra’ and the artistic creation of the legendary Branimir Džoni Štulić – ‘Master of Solitude in the Time of one Country’ will be presented on 11 February from 7 p.m. in the Cultural Corner (Sentrandrejski Put Street no.106b). The book is different because it was not written by critics, journalists or musicians, but the fan of Štulić’s work, Mladen Maksimovicć from Zrenjanin, and at the end of last year it caught the eye of the public.

Documentary on street dance and theatre play for children

A screening of the documentary on the types of street dances entitled ‘Street Stylez’, directed by Buddah Stretch, American choreographer and dancer, will take place on 22 February at 5 p.m. After the screening, the current form and importance of street dances will be discussed. Discussion will be led by Vesna Pašćanović from the ‘Groove’ Dance Association.
The puppet theatre ‘Pozorište iz Kofera’ team will perform for the youngest through play, puppets and animation on 29 February at 11 a.m.

Russian lessons for the young and adults

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.

Russian language and culture will be studied mostly through conversation

• Study aid (for students in grades 1-8)

Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

A programme to support elementary students in mastering the studies, drafting homework and preparing for tests

• ‘Wonderland with Alice’ School of English (for students in grades 2 to 4)

Saturday 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Children will learn through storytelling as well as the creative use of what has been learned

Creative workshops (for 3 and 4 grade students)

Wednesday 12 p.m. – 1.30 p.m.

In these workshops, children will create through drawing, writing, making handicraft

• Corner for playing and developing imagination (for children from 5 to 10 years old)

Friday 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.

Children will be able to play, learn to juggle, play Wii games and more.

Creative Writing Workshop (for young people aged 14 to 19)

Wednesday 7 p.m. – 8.30 p.m.

The workshops will be a space for reading, writing, analyzing, deleting, refining, thinking. The space for individual and team work. The workshops will be led by Bojan Krivokapić, an award-winning writer.

Screenings of local and foreign (synchronized) cartoons

• DJ workshops

Monday and Wednesday 5 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to get to know the world of DJing as well as to try to be one. The lecturer is Borko Simić from the Streetwise organisation – DJ, MC, rapper, songwriter, organiser of many events.
