Museums and Education – name of the expert meeting that will be organised in the Museum of Vojvodina, Novi Sad, Dunavska Street no. 37 on 18 December at 11 a.m. It will enable museum pedagogues, educational and cultural professionals to exchange experiences, practices and ideas for improvement of inter-sectoral cooperation of educational institutions and museums in Serbia. The meeting is supported by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation within the Audience in Focus of Cultural Institutions programme.
The main goal of this meeting is to point to the importance of inter-sectoral cooperation and of involvement of children in cultural life – fostering the needs and creating cultural habits, thus developing the audience. Other important issues that will be addressed are multi-layered dimensions of possible effects of museums on growing up, development and education of children in modern society.
The programme includes presentation of cooperation models that exists in Croatia and Slovenia, as well as presentation of examples, issues and obstacles that we face in Serbia – both from the perspective of museum workers, and from the perspective of educational workers.
It is also expected that this meeting will trigger the process of promotion and improvement of positive cooperation practices between educational institutions and museums.
The cooperation proposal document, which will be drafted based on previous discussions and conclusions on this meeting, will be sent to decision makers. Its primary purpose is to systematically improve inter-sectoral cooperation in order to enable the highest possible number of children to enrich their education through participation in cooperation programmes between museums and kindergartens/schools.
The meeting is organised by the Museum Association of Serbia and Museum Pedagogues Section, in cooperation with the Museum of Vojvodina, POINT Foundation and Europa Nostra Serbia, with financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, City Administration for Culture of the City of Novi Sad and ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.
