Cultural managers had the opportunity to learn how to improve their work, functioning within their associations, organisations and institutions, as well as to make communication with audience and cultural contents more accessible, at the ‘Digital Tools in Culture’ workshop held in the Svilara Cultural Station on 29 May, within the ‘Future of Europe’ platform.
The ‘Software Developers for the Citizens of Novi Sad’, socially responsible project of the VEGA IT company, the most famous IT company in Novi Sad, was initiated for the third time and it opens possibility for organisations, associations and institutions to share ideas that facilitate their functioning, and communication with audiences and other cultural institutions.
‘We had situations where some organisations or institutions did not even have a website, which is in a way necessary, so we successfully implemented it. We made a mobile application for the ‘Fruškać’ association, because they realised that their target group mainly communicates in this way. Ideas can be varied and you do not even need to know how to implement them, just to say what you need and we will sit down together and make it through. This is what the ‘Software Developers for the Citizens of Novi Sad’ project is meant for’, said Maja Božić from VEGA IT company.
The first phase includes application of ideas, and the deadline is 1 June. The second phase includes voting, where everyone can vote for the most interesting project. The third phase is for all software developers, engineers and other IT enthusiasts, who wish to apply and participate in 48 hours of programming, which is the last phase when ideas are being implemented.
‘It is important for us to see how and in which way we can implement the idea. Therefore, it is always important that someone from the organisation, association and institution, participates in the problem solving. This person does not need to have any programming pre-knowledge, that’s our part of the job’, said Nenad Perčić, a software developer who participated in the implementation of the project from the beginning.
The workshop is implemented by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation and VEGA IT company, in order to help cultural managers to network and improve their communication with audience.
The ‘Future of Europe’ platform will include educative and circus workshops, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, theatre plays and many other activities. The focus is on children and young fellow citizens, who will have the opportunity to find cultural content according to their interests, but also to engage in creating new, different cultural contents, to learn about European values and to show how they can contribute to cultural image of the city. More than 40 local and foreign organisations and cultural institutions are involved in the ‘Future of Europe’ platform.
