B.E.T.A. CIRCUS (Boosting European Trends and Artists in Circus Arts) is the project implemented within the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission, in cooperation with four European organisations specialized in contemporary circus, including Bússola (Portugal), Teatro Necessario (Italy), Ludifico (Serbia) and Rigas Cirks (Latvia).
BETA circus, as a cooperation project, seeks to develop a new European vision dedicated to capacity building for non-established European artists in the field of contemporary circus who are looking for innovative works, trends and expressions, with special focus on countries without academic circus education and in which the circus it is not recognised as contemporary art.
The international BETA circus programme supports the training of non-established professionals, which is based on educational transnational mobility, in order to give them the opportunity to progress, become visible in the international context and to meet new aesthetics and techniques. During the next two years, this project will highlight a new trend in the aesthetics of the contemporary circus: illusion and new magic.
