Everyone who didn’t have a chance to see the natural wealth of Sremski Karlovci, will be able to do it on Saturday, 15 June, within the third and last walk ‘Do You Remember that Courtyard’.
In addition to walk and visit of the ‘Courtyard’ natural heritage, it is important to include citizens in the debate about its future, what should be done, in which manner and how to raise awareness in order to preserve and renew the natural monument.
Same as the last time, the walk will start at the entrance of the ‘Courtyard’ natural monument in Sremski Karlovci, at 12 p.m.
The ‘Courtyard’, one of the most valuable green spaces, which is not only important from the aspect of the natural wealth, but from the cultural-historical aspect, is the perfect candidate to become an arboretum, the only one of such kind in the South Bačka and Srem.
The ‘Courtyard’ natural heritage emerged together with the first Serbian Grammar School of Karlovci. Today, it could become one more reason for Sremski Karlovci to be the important tourist destination, with preservation, revitalisation and renewal.
This was the reason for the ‘Eco Flame’ Association to launch the ‘Do You Remember that Courtyard’ project, which was selected within the ‘Heritage Walks’ call of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation. The project was launched in order to introduce natural heritage of their environment to the citizens, its history and uniqueness in comparison to other natural monuments.
The first and second walk mostly gathered children and youth, while the third one is dedicated to the elderly. However, everyone who want to get familiar with protected natural goods and find out something new, as well as those who already went for walks, but would like to enjoy beautiful nature again, are welcome.
It is one of 11 projects of Novi Sad associations, which was selected during the second phase of the ‘Heritage Walks’ project.
Within the project, associations have a chance to tell the story about the part of the city that has some special importance in a different way, as well as to contribute to the revelation of secrets of our city and to encourage citizens to participate in the preservation of cultural heritage and use of its potential.
