The great ‘Innovative Finish Design’ exhibition that marks Finland’s presidency of the European Union, is part of this year’s ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ and is being implemented in cooperation with the Finnish Embassy and the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project.

The exhibition will be opened by H.E Ambassador of Finland, Kimo Lahdervita, in the Egység Cultural Station on 17 September at 1 p.m. 

The exhibition deals with the questions of how design finds use in communications technology, shipbuilding, healthcare, the furniture industry and many other areas. In what way new technologies influence design? For Finish people design is a way of solving problems, a way to apply new techniques and technologies that characterise them and an opportunity to develop services and new business opportunities.

Finland is among top ten countries in the world when it comes to patented inventions per capita due to the fact that they always adopt new technologies and further develop them.

The author of the exhibition, Jarno Peltonen, the former director of the Design Museum Helsinki, wanted to point out the importance of design to the Finish people.

The exhibition is part of the Week of Finland Culture programme that is accompanied by diverse programmes, such as workshop for children and literary nights, which is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the Finish culture and way of life.

The ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ is the programme arch of the ‘Nov Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project, which turns Novi Sad into the ‘city of scene’ at more than 80 locations from 24 to 30 August. Part of the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ are Street Musicians Festival – Gradić Fest, Piano City, Festival of Chamber Music, etc.

It connects spaces and programmes, as well as the actors themselves: the ‘Kaleidoscope’ presents a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad through multiple arts, with its cultural institutions, non-institutional scene, artists and citizens themselves. With more than 400 programmes, everyone will have a chance to design their own kaleidoscope of culture.
