‘After more than two centuries Beethoven is among us, here and now. One of the biggest musical geniuses of our civilisation is at the same time one of us – a human being in search of something that would satisfy his spirit,’ says Ljiljana Lišković, a soprano singer who is in charge of the ‘Ludwig and Jeannette’ project. The project is going to be implemented in the Egység Cultural Station on 27 October, at 7.30 p.m.

In the year that marks the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, the audience will have an opportunity to enjoy the music of one of the greatest geniuses, but in a slightly different and innovative way. Namely, Ljiljana Lišković, a soprano singer, and Aleksandra Rakić, a pianist, will portray this eminent composer and his biggest love, Jeannette d’ Honrath, and will perform the most representative concert and opera arias for soprano.

‘His youthful love for Jeannette d’ Honrath inspired us to look at Beethoven as a person who, just like any of us, searches for love, but also as a monumental composer through whose music transcends the miracle of life, making us associate his music to the humane in us, but also remember that we’re part of something grander, universal, valuable and divine and that we should always recognise it, value it and nurture it, here and now, in these challenging times,’ says Lišković.

Besides the music part, the concert will encompass speaking segments presenting the composer’s life. These segments will be spoken by Aca Lazin, an actor.

Organisers kindly ask all visitors to adhere to all measures in order to maintain health and enjoy cultural events. Visitors are obliged to wear face masks during all events. Maximum number of people allowed in indoor spaces is being controlled. The organiser has the right to change the way of hosting the event if the epidemiological measures change.

The ‘Ludwig and Jeannette’ project is one of the 42 projects given funds on the Public call within the ‘Artists. Now!’ project aimed at strengthening the local cultural scene, raising its capacities through a network of cultural stations, decentralisation of culture and audience development.
