Matera: How to Improve Neighbourly Dialogue
23/05/2019

What makes a neighbourly dialogue? How does music, cooking, dance, book and art connect us? How can we activate, help each other and contribute to the community and the city even more?

We will find it out on 31 May, when we will celebrate the European Neighbour’s Day in the Svilara and Egység Cultural Stations. In order to be ready to welcome this day, but also the year of the title and be as good as possible in the activation of the community, the representatives of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project will be guests in Matera, Italy on 24 and 25 May.

Representatives of the project and our cultural stations, spaces that are open with the aim of activating communities through culture, will have the opportunity to get acquainted with programmes that involve citizens’ participation in art and culture, as well as creation of neighbourly dialogue. Also, they will present several programmes that the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ is implementing with the aim of audience development, such as the Novi Sad Voluntary Service, New Places for participation of citizens in the development of small public spaces, Heritage Walks, etc.

New ideas that will encourage even greater participation of citizens in cultural programmes in Novi Sad in order to be in full capacity in 2021, and also an important legacy of the city afterwards, are being born through the experience with other representatives of the European Capitals of Culture, as well as citizens, who will also be involved in discussions and workshops in Matera.

Matera, as this year’s European Capital of Culture, mostly based its programme on the participation of citizens and their connection in various fields of art, culture, and social activism.
