New Places – Call for Improvement of Small Public Surfaces
27/04/2018

Improve your neighbourhood! On Wednesday, 18 April 2018, the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ launched the open call ‘New Places – Mikrogranting’ for improvement of small public surfaces in Novi Sad and Zone 021 (Irig, Beočin and Sremski Karlovci).

Within the ‘New Places – Mikrogranting’ project, the call for improvement of small public surfaces has been launched to encourage citizens to be the ones who apply and implement their ideas for concrete locations of their choice. Citizens’ associations and housing communities, whose proposals are selected by the expert jury, will receive funds in the amount of up to 350,000.00 RSD.

How can places be improved?

Citizens can place new urban furniture (benches, tables, canopies, pergola, trashcans, bicycle parking racks, flower pots, etc.). They can do urban gardening – greening of surfaces, or clean and improve spaces, practice cultural and ecological activities, etc. They can place infrastructure for social activities (field for bocce game, chess table, skate park, etc.) or organise space for creative expression. Suggested locations must be public surfaces that are accessible to all. They cannot be private properties or yards, as well as spaces that belong to zone of special protection in Novi Sad and to cultural-historical part of city core of Sremski Karlovci.

In order to apply the idea for the call you don’t need to have knowledge on horticulture or architectural-urbanistic practice. You just need the will, creativity and enthusiasm!

The call is prepared and implemented in cooperation with Association of Architects of Novi Sad.

For all technical and administrative procedures that have to be implemented, the applicants will have expert support and help.

ТInfo-days covering this topic will be organised during April, while all interested citizens can ask questions via e-mail: predlog@ns2021.rs or by calling: 060/7202116, every workday from 10h to 12h.
