Members of the City Assembly of Novi Sad at the last session held last year, made a decision on the appointment of members of the Steering Committee of the Foundation „Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture“.
As being specified by parliamentary act, the work of members of the SC of the Foundation will not be formal, but will have concrete, clear and highly functional and important authorizations. One of the most important tasks is that SC is obliged to manage the work in accordance with the recommendations of the Panel of independent experts of the European Commission and examples of positive practice. Steering Committee of the Foundation shall, among other things, adopt strategic plans, make annual work plan and report of the Foundation, decide on how to use the resources of the Foundation, educate professional bodies and commissions.
During election of the members of the Committee, the basic and the main criteria were the expertise and experience in implementation of international projects and recommendations of the Panel of the European Commission. Therefore, for the members of the Steering Committee five experts in different areas of importance for the realization of the project, four PhD and an MS were chosen.
President of the Steering Committee of the Foundation „Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture“ is Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, PhD – art historian, director of the Gallery of Matica srpska and longtime cultural worker in Novi Sad, with experience in the preparation and implementation of several international cultural projects. The main „field“ of her operation will be questions of artistic conception of program and making artistic vision.
Member of the Steering Committee is Momčilo Bajac, PhD, professor of communicology, has decades of experience in higher education and longtime practice in the Project „Novi Sad European Capital of Culture“. Professor Bajac will be responsible for the evaluation and preparation of the list of indicators of „Novi Sad 2021“ implementation.
Igor Stamenković, PhD, graduated from Geography and Tourism, will be hired to develop a strategy to maximize the touristic impact of the „Novi Sad 2021“ in cooperation with local, regional and national tourism organization.
Another member of the SC of the Foundation Board with PhD is Darko Polić, PhD in Architecture and an expert on urban planning. He will be responsible for monitoring of infrastructure projects to be implemented within the project „Novi Sad 2021“.
The fifth member of the SC of the Foundation is Danijela Mirkov – Arkula, CFA, MBA, holder of the prestigious CFA license in the field of investment management and Master of Marketing with years of experience in the field of financial and investment consulting for international companies. She will be in charge of funding issues, fundraising and financial planning.
Members of the Steering Committee of the Foundation „Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture“, together with the Director of the Foundation, Nemanja Milenković, over the next five years will play a key role in the management and planning of the project „Novi Sad European Capital of Culture 2021“.
