‘Accessibility is our Strength’ is the title of discussion, i.e. Divan that emerged from the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project and deals with important questions of cultural life of Novi Sad.

‘Accessibility is our Strength’ Divan is scheduled for Saturday, 30 November, at 7 p.m. in the Svilara Cultural Station and is open for everybody. The upcoming Divan, as part of the ‘Superpowered’ programme that, from 24 November until 3 December, stresses openness and inclusion, raises questions of accessibility of cultural content and infrastructure in Novi Sad. Marijana Ramić Vulin, journalist and vice president of the ‘KAO PARNAS’ Association, will moderate the Divan. She is also one of the organisers of the ‘Seize the Film’ International Festival that deals with people with disabilities and actively involves them in her work and programme. The programme will be translated into  sign language.

The ‘Goran’ film screening will be organised prior to the Divan at 6:45 p.m. It is a short documentary that gives us an insight into joy of life, fears, loneliness, sociability, and hope from the perspective of Goran Gostojić, citizen of Novi Sad.

Prior to the projection of the film, visitors will be able to visit the ‘Superpowered’ Market at 6 p.m., which will present the creative potentials of people with disabilities, gathered within the ‘OSI ART’ Gallery and numerous other exhibitors of unique products.

Successful women in Egység, the Beatles in Svilara, struggle with life in the Cultural Corner

Getting to know your body, your personality, what causes fear, decline and excuses, time and destiny as a determinant of life, love, friendship and family as the purpose of life, what goodness is and why a new adventure is good. Bojana Ćorilić, who after the tragedy in Žitište suffered many injuries, managed to cope and move on with her life, and now wants to help and motivate other people. The interview with Bojana Ćorilić is scheduled for 30 November at 6 p.m. in the Cultural Corner.

Women who are changing the situation, activists from Novi Sad who are fighting for the rights of persons with disabilities, will present themselves in the Egység Cultural Station on 2 December at 6:30 p.m. during the event implemented by the ‘Iz Kruga – Vojvodina’. As the organisers say, disability is an aspect of identity that has a significant impact on a life experience of women, but the authenticity of the experience is blurred by centuries-old assumptions, stereotypes, irrational fears and stigmatisation – both disability and female gender. This is why it is important to decode, record and remember the history of female activism. The programme will be translated into the sign language.

The ‘We Sing the Beatles’ concert will be held in the Svilara Cultural Station on 1 Decembre, at 12:00 p.m. This unique performance will gather nine choirs, both children and professional, as well as two inclusive choirs. The repertoire includes compositions by the famous band such as Across the Universe, Yellow Submarine, Blackbird, Yesterday, Imagine, etc. Performers: The ‘Magic Flute’ children choir, Girl Choir of the Karlovci Grammar School, the ‘9 May’ inclusive choir from Zrenjanin, mixed choir of the ‘Sonja Marinković’ Academic Cultural-Artistic Association, Pop Choir Radio, mixed choir of the Somborsko Pevčko Društvo and the choir of the ‘Veljko Petrović’ Grammar School, ‘Mušket’ vocal ensemble, choir and orchestra of the ‘Svetozar Marković’ Grammar School and the ‘Ison’ mixed inclusive choir. The ‘Superpowered’ are part of the ‘Second Europe’ programme arch of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ that presents different, hidden, minority, but challenging and brave culture and art of Novi Sad and it will last until 15 December.
