Second edition of the Tamburitza Street Battle will be organised within the ‘Osijek Summer Nights’ manifestation on Friday, 27 July 2018.

Tamburitza Street Battle is an extraordinary musical event envisaged as the street battle of tamburitza players from ‘Osječki band’ tamburitza band from Osijek and ‘Romanca’ tamburitza orchestra from Novi Sad. The idea of the event is to revive urban image of tamuritza music, heritage of the cities of Osijek and Novi Sad, through the concept of ‘street battle’.

Musicians will compete at several popular sites in Osijek and recognisable tamburitza melodies will thus fill areas from pedestrian hanging bridge, Promenade towards Picasso statue, space near the ‘Bijela lađa’ former restaurant, ending in the Ante Starčević Square.

This project is part of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ programme and it will experience second edition in Osijek, after premiere in January in Novi Sad during the celebration of the year 7526. The project is implemented by the city of Osijek and Tourist Community of the city of Osijek in cooperation with the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.
