Leading up to the two years of the title of the European Capital of Culture, the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, in cooperation with the City Government and Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities organised the ‘To Europe, as Legacy’ conference. This conference joins the commemoration of the Year of European Cultural Heritage.

Two-day programme dedicated to the cultural heritage was held on 1 and 2 October. During the conference, the city of Novi Sad hosted two leading persons in implementation of the Year of European Cultural Heritage: Mr Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, as the high representative of the institutions of the European Union, and Ms Sneška Quaedvlieg Mihailović, Secretary General of the Europa Nostra organisation, the most important European non-governmental organisation in the field of cultural heritage, which was one of the leading organisations of this important European initiative.
