The ‘Victory Day Over Fascism’ poster exhibition will be opened in the Svilara Cultural Station on 7 May at 8 p.m. The exhibition, which is being held for 13 years on the occasion of marking 9 May – Europe Day and Victory Day over Fascism, is organised by the Student Cultural Centre of Novi Sad within the Rhythm of Europe manifestation. This year the Rhythm of Europe is part of the ‘Future of Europe’ platform.  

The exhibition dedicated to the Victory Day over Fascism is thematically divided into two segments: the first part presents the selection of a poster of the allies from the anti-fascist coalition, while the second part of the exhibition includes the celebration of the Victory Day from the post-war period to the present day.

The exhibition will be opened until 10 May, and the entrance is free.

The Victory Day over Fascism is the day when, after colossal destruction, marked by the harshest sufferings and crimes that had been unknown in human history until then, Germany signed an unconditional capitulation in 1945. Although the Victory Day over Fascism was established between 1946 and 1950, in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, it was marked the first year after the war. Today 9 May is celebrated in many countries around the world.

The exhibition was implemented thanks to the excellent cooperation between authors and cultural institutions: the Museum of Vojvodina, the Archives of Vojvodina, the Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad, the Library of Matica Srpska, the Seminar Library of the Department of History of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and the Svilara Cultural Station.

The ‘Future of Europe’ platform will include educative and circus workshops, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, theatre plays and many other activities. The focus is on children and young fellow citizens, who will have the opportunity to find cultural content according to their interests, but also to engage in creating new, different cultural contents, to learn about European values ​​and to show how they can contribute to cultural image of the city.

More than 40 local and foreign organisations and cultural institutions are involved in the ‘Future of Europe’ platform.
