The exhibition ‘European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 – Where the Past Meets the Future’, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Gallery of Matica Srpska and Svilara Cultural Station will be opened in the Svilara Cultural Station on Wednesday, 12 December 2018.
According to the Decision of the European Parliament and European Union Committee, the 2018 has been declared the European Year of Cultural heritage, under the motto ‘Our heritage: where the past meets the future’. Despite Serbia not having the status of a member state of the European Union, it was called by the European Commission to get involved in the agenda and use this initiative in order to promote cultural heritage, as well as to strengthen international cultural cooperation.
The exhibition will last from 12 until 19 December. During this period, implemented projects, which marked this significant European initiative in Serbia, will be presented within numerous accompanying programmes as well as creative workshops for children and high school students.

– 13 December at 6 p.m.: presentation of the project – The Gallery of Matica Srpska
– 16 December at 11 a.m.: children workshop ‘Adventure and Culture’
– 17 December at 11 a.m.: workshop for high school students ‘Old Places of Novi Sad – How important are they for us?’
– 18 December at 6 p.m.: presentation of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project
