Serbia Fashion Week, international festival of fashion and design, is going to take place in Novi Sad between 24 and 29 April. Serbia Fashion Week is the biggest fashion festival in the region, and according to organisers it reports the most expansive growth in terms of visitors and participants in Europe. The April edition of the Serbia Fashion Week will showcase designers from 20 countries, as well as numerous additional programmes that are dedicated to the education of visitors about the fashion as an art form.
Serbia Fashion Week is preparing a Fashion Week opening that we have not seen in Serbia yet! Along the main promenade in Zmaj Jovina Street, more than 250 models will walk the catwalk dressed in pieces by 30 European designers. The spectacular opening of the Serbia Fashion Week will be made grander with performances of the NS2021 Symphony Orchestra, Tijana Bogićević, our representative at the Eurovision 2017, as well as grandiose performance of Dragoljub Đuričić with drums. Along with the main non-competition part that will be held in Master Congress Centre of the Novi Sad Fair, Serbia Fashion Week organises education conferences and seminars, competition of young talents, as well as Show Room.
Fashion is part of creative industries and arts, and an event like this contributes to raising capacities of local designers and fashion workers. Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, stated that is a great endeavour when you connect this many European countries and artists at one event. As he stressed, this is one way to connect with other European cities, and especially with some of the European Capitals of Culture that will have their representatives at the Serbia Fashion Week.
– As we can see, the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation with its premiere programme of the DVE.NOVE New Year’s Eve festival, during December 2016, significantly increased the visit of European tourists for nearly 30% when compared to the same period of the previous year. Therefore, we believe that events like this will increase visits to Novi Sad in other periods of the year – Milenković stressed.
